MX1 (Myxovirus resistance protein 1) is a GTPase involved in the antiviral response, especially against influenza and other viruses. It plays a critical role in the innate immune system and is upregulated by interferons. The encoded protein is induced by type I and type II interferons and antagonizes the replication process of several different RNA and DNA viruses.
