The MTT Cell Proliferation and Cytotoxicity Assay Kit is a colorimetric assay designed to quantitatively measure cell viability, proliferation, and cytotoxicity in cultured cells. The assay is based on the enzymatic reduction of MTT (3-[4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl]-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide) to insoluble purple formazan crystals by metabolically active (viable) cells.
