Dengue viruses are transmitted by the Aedes aegypti mosquito and are among the most important arboviruses because of the high morbidity they cause to humans who inhabit urban communities in the tropical and subtropical regions of the world. Molecular diagnostic systems using Reverse Transcriptase Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT‐PCR) for detecting dengue viral RNA in human serum/plasma/blood samples have been shown to be faster assays than cell culture.
